This reminds me of the work from one of my favorite writers, Raymond Carver. Seemingly mundane details but such a wonderful, special read! Love it!

His books are easy to borrow from Libby (public library). It has a minimalist style of storytelling. It’s interesting to read but you might also find it bit boring/depressing.

This reads very similar to time I spend with my own mom. While mine doesn't live across the world, it's always the best when I'm with her. I'm sure your mom really enjoyed her trip here and spending time with you.
